SMOK RPM 5 Review

The Smok RPM 5 is the newest pod device to hit our shelves by SMOK tech. Known for other devices like the Nord line, or RPM 80, Smok has dipped their feet into the open pod world quite a bit. But how does this new device hold up?

The RPM 5 comes with a preinstalled 2000mah battery and has adjustable wattage options of up to 80 watts. It also has a comfortable stick-like design that fits well in the hand & utilizes USB type C charging to ensure a fast charge that will definitely last you all day. Comparing the battery to an open pod system like the Havok V1, you’re going to have a bigger battery on the RPM 5. (1800mah vs 2000mah)

This device uses the RPM 5 pod which takes a simple and non messy top fill. For coils however this is where it may get a little confusing. Despite being the Smok RPM 5, this device takes RPM 3 coils. With so many RPM coils (that are for a wide variety of devices), I wish that Smok would either come up with new names for new products or keep the coil names the same. You have two coil options, one being a 0.15 and the other a 0.23ohm. The 0.15 coil is rated for 40-80 watts while the 0.23 is 20-45w. With the device you get both coils so you can try both to find which is better for you.

When comparing the RPM 5 to Smok’s previous pod systems, this one is definitely worth considering upgrading too. Specifically, the RPM 5 pod is much easier to fill and maintain than the Nord line of products. The massive screen on this device is also a huge advantage for those who like playing around with the wattage of their device. This is also a great device for anyone who's looking for something that can provide sub-ohm style clouds and an open pod device.

My only real con with this device is the whole coil name not matching. For casual users, it might be hard to remember that you're looking for a whole different product & name. At the end of the day, the RPM 5 is another easy recommendation for anyone looking to grab a new pod system.
